Thebacklapswitchislocatedonthefrontofthemowerhydraulicmanifoldon
machineswiththebacklapfeature.Thebacklapswitchisanormallyopen
ballswitch.TheswitchcontactsareopenwhenthebacklapleverisintheF
(forward–mow)position,andclosedwhenthebacklapleverisintheR(reverse
–backlap)position.
TestingtheBacklapSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandlowerthecuttingunits.Makesure
theengineisoffandthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.
2.Raisetheoperatorseatanddisconnectthewireharnessfromtheswitch.
3.Checkthecontinuityoftheswitchbyconnectingamultimeter(ohmssetting)
acrosstheswitchterminals.
A.WiththebacklapleverintheFposition,thereshouldbenocontinuity
(switchcontactsopen)acrosstheswitchterminals.
B.WiththebacklapleverintheRposition,thereshouldbecontinuity(switch
contactsclosed)acrosstheswitchterminals.
4.Replacethebacklapswitchifnecessary.Makesurethatthedowelandthe
ballareplacedinthemanifoldportbeforeinstallingthenewswitch.Tighten
theswitchto27N∙m(20ft-lb).
5.Iftheswitchtestscorrectlyandacircuitproblemstillexists,checkthewire
harnesses;refertoAppendixA(pageA–1).
6.Connectthewireharnesstotheswitchbeforereturningthemachineto
service.
