InstallingtheCasterFork
1.Ifthebearingcupswereremovedfromtheframe,pressnewcupsintothe
framemakingsurethattheyarefullyseatedagainsttheshoulderofthe
framehousing.
2.Packthebearingconeswith#2multi-purposelithiumbasegrease.
3.Placetwowashersandabearingconeontothecasterforkstemandinsert
thecasterforkstemupthroughthebottomoftheframe.
4.Placetheremainingbearingconeandtwowashersontothecasterforkstem.
5.Threadtheslottedhexnutontothecasterforkstemuntildragisfeltwhile
rotatingthecasterfork.Loosenthehexnutonlyenoughtoalignthehexnut
withtheholeinthestemandinstallanewcotterpin.
6.Thoroughlycleanthetaperedsurfacesofthesteeringcylinderrodendand
thetaperedboreonthecasterfork.
7.Securetherodendtothecasterforkwiththeatwasherandtwojamnuts.
Tightentherstjamnutfrom88to108N∙m(65to80ft-lb).Whileholding
therstjamnutstationary,tightenthesecondjamnutfrom88to108N∙m
(65to80ft-lb).
8.Installtherearwheel;refertoInstallingtheRearWheel(page6–7).
9.Installthefueltank;refertoInstallingtheFuelTank(page3–6).
10.Cleangreasettingandlubricatesteeringstemuntilgreaseisseenatboth
endsofthehousing.Wipeupexcessgrease.
