InstallingtheGearBoxAssembly
1.Parkthemachineonacleanandlevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunits
completelytotheground,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthe
keyswitch.
2.Safelypreventthereelfromrotatingbyblockingthecuttingreelwithapiece
ofwoodnearoneofthereelspiders.
IMPORTANT
Allofthegroomergearboxesforthismachineareinstalledonthe
leftsideofthecuttingunit.Groomergearboxesinstalledontheleft
sideofthecuttingunitusealefthandthread.Turntheinputshaft
(rearrollerbrushdriveshaft)counter-clockwisetoinstallthegear
box.
3.Installthegearboxtothecuttingunitasfollows:
A.Fittheshim(item6inFigure150)overtheinputshaft.
B.Applymediumstrengththreadlockingcompoundtotheinputshaft
threadsandturntheinputshaftcounter–clockwiseuntilitisseated
againstthereel.
C.Installtheclevispinandanewcotterpintosecuretheheightadjustment
rodtothefrontofthegroomergearbox.
D.Tightentheinputshaftfrom136to149N∙m(100to110ft-lb).
4.Applyaretainingcompound(Loctite609orequivalent)tothelipofthedrive
housingandinstallthedriveshield,or,ifthecuttingunitisequippedwithan
optionalpoweredrearrollerbrush,installtherearrollerbrushdriveassembly;
refertoServicingtheRearRollerBrush(withorwithoutauniversalgroomer)
(page7–39).
5.Installthegroomerreelassembly;refertoInstallingtheGroomerReel(page
9–15).
