venthoseassemblybetweentheenginepurgevalveandthecarboncanister
(item8Figure10)andtheventhosebetweenthefreshairlterandtheteetting
(item15Figure10)includecheckvalvestocontrolthedirectionofow.
Note:Thepurgehoseassemblyandfreshairhoseassemblyincludeacheck
valveasacomponentofthehoseassembly.Thecheckvalveisnotavailable
separately.Toensureproperoperationofthecheckvalves,donotattemptto
removethemfromthehoseassembly.Ifeitherhoseassemblyisremoved,
verifythelocationofthecheckvalvetomakesurethehoseisinstalledcorrectly,
ensuringproperevaporativecontrolsystemoperation;refertoFigure10.

•Usecautionwheneveryoustoreorhandlegasoline.
•Donotsmokewhilehandlinggasoline.
•Alwayswipeupanyspilledgasolinebeforestartingtheengine.
1.Inspectcarboncanisterandattachedhosesfordamageorobviousleaks.A
damagedorleakingcanistershouldbereplaced.
2.Removeevaporativesystemcomponentsasnecessary.
Assembly
Note:Ifeitherventhose(items8or15inFigure10)areremoved,verifythe
locationofthecheckvalvestomakesurethehosesareinstalledcorrectly,
ensuringproperevaporativecontrolsystemoperation.
Installallevaporativecontrolsystemcomponentspreviouslyremoved.Ensure
allevaporativecontrolsystemhosesarenotkinkedorpinchedandaresecured
ateachendwithhoseclamps.
