7.StWheelFeelistheamountofcurrentbeingsentbytheT1:Primary
controllertothesteeringinputdevicebrakecoil,andnotnecessarilywhatis
beingreceivedbythecoil.Thesteeringinputdevicebrakecoilamperage
characteristicsare:
StWheelFeelshouldbeapproximately220mAwhenthesteeringwheel
isatrestorturnedslowlyineitherdirection.
StWheelFeelshouldbeapproximately600mAwhenthesteeringwheel
reachestheendofitsturningrangeineitherdirection.
StWheelFeelshouldvarybetween220and480mAwhenthesteering
wheelisturnedquicklyineitherdirection.
8.Removethecoverfromthesteeringmount.
9.Disconnectthesteeringinputdevicefromthemachinewireharness.Check
bothconnectorsforcorrosionordamageandcleanorrepairasnecessary.
10.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting)tomeasuretheresistanceofthebrakecoil
acrossthesteeringinputdeviceconnectorpins5and6.Resistanceshould
beapproximately10ohmsat20°C(68°F).
11.IftheInfoCenterdiagnosticsinputsandoutputsreportnormally,thebrakecoil
resistancemeasurescorrectly,andthesteeringinputdevisedoesnotfunction
properly,replacethedevice;refertoSteeringArmAssembly(page6–35).
12.Ifthesteeringinputdevicetestscorrectlyandacircuitproblemstillexists,
checkthemachinewireharness;refertoAppendixA(pageA–1).
13.Aftertesting,connectthemachinewireharness,installthecoverand
calibratethesteeringsystemcenter:refertoCalibratingtheSteering
SystemCenter(page5–91).
