tractionleverdoesnotdisengage,theinterlocksystem

7.Carefullylowerthemachineoffthekickstand.
UsingtheTractionInterlockSwitch
1.Pushthekickstanddownwithfootandpulluponthe
handlesupportuntilthekickstandhasrotatedforward,
overcenter.
2.WiththeOPCdepressed,thetractionleverengaged
andtheenginecontrolsinthestartingposition(Figure
27).Attempttostarttheengine.Engineshouldnot
start.Ifenginestarts,theinterlockswitchneeds
service.Correcttheproblembeforeoperating.Refer
toServicingtheTractionInterlockSwitch(page30).
3.Carefullylowerthemachineoffthekickstand.
UsingtheBrakeInterlockSwitch
1.Pushthekickstanddownwithfootandpulluponthe
handlesupportuntilthekickstandhasrotatedforward,
overcenter.
2.Withthetractionleverdisengaged,theservicebrake
engagedandtheenginecontrolsinthestartingposition
(Figure27).Attempttostartengine.Engineshould
start.Ifenginedoesnotstart,theinterlockswitch
needsservice.Correcttheproblembeforeoperating.
RefertoServicingtheBrakeInterlockSwitch(page31).
3.Withtheenginerunning,engagetheservicebrake
(nottheparkingbrake),depresstheOPCandengage
thetractionlever(Figure27).Engineshouldlabor
toovercomethebrakebutshouldnotkill.Ifthe
enginekillsimmediately,theinterlockswitchneeds
service.Correcttheproblembeforeoperating.Refer
toServicingtheBrakeInterlockSwitch(page31).
4.Withtheenginerunning,engagetheparkingbrake
latch,depresstheOPCandengagethetractionlever
(Figure27).Engineshouldkill.Ifenginedoesnot
kill,theinterlockswitchneedsservice.Correctthe
problembeforeoperating.RefertoServicingtheBrake
InterlockSwitch(page31).
5.Carefullylowerthemachineoffthekickstand.
ReleasingtheTransmission
Ifthemachinebecomesdisabled,youcandisengagethe
drumfromthetransmissiontoallowthemachinetobe
maneuvered.
1.Ontherightrearcornerofthemachine,locatethe
tractionengage/disengagelevernexttothedrive
housingdrum(Figure28).

2.Rotatetheleverrearwardtodisengagethetransmission
fromthedrum.
Important:Makesuretopushtheleverfromthe
fronttopreventyourhandfrombeingstruckby
thespringloadedlever.
3.Movethemachineasneeded
Important:Ifpossible,donottowthemachine.If
itisabsolutelynecessary,donottowatanyspeed
greaterthan4.8kph(3mph);alwaysdisengage
thetransmissionfromthedrum.Failingtodoso
willlikelycausedamagetothemachine.
4.Whennished,rotatetheleverforwardtoengagethe
transmissiontothedrum.
Note:Thebrakeisstilloperationalwiththetransmission
disengagedfromthedrum.
