Ifreelcontroldoesnotproperlyengage,anadjustmentis
required.
1.Makesurethereelcontrolisdisengaged.
2.Atthetransmissionbulkhead,adjustthereelcontrol
cable(Figure47),toattainaspringlengthof70.6to
72.4mm(2.78to2.85inches).

3.Atthecontrolhandlebulkhead,loosenthereelcontrol
cableuntilthereisslackinthecable(Figure45).
4.Atthecontrolhandlebulkhead,tightenthereelcontrol
cableenoughtoremovetheslackfromthecable
withoutextendingthespring.
5.Checktheoperationasfollows:
•Verifythatthereelclutchteethdisengagewhenthe
clutchisreleasedandthereelclutchteethdonot
bottomoutwhenengaged.
Note:Removetherubberplug(Figure43)from
theholeinthefrontofthetransmissiontoview
reelclutch.
•Thereelstoppingtimemustbelessthan7seconds
withthereeltobedknifebackedoff.
•RefertotheServiceManualorcontactyour
distributorforfurtherassistance.
Storage
1.Removeanygrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.Cleanthedirtandchafffromtheoutsideofthe
engine'scylinderheadnsandtheblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithmild
detergentandwater.Donotpressurewashthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
neartheshiftleverplate,andtheengine.
2.Forlong-termstorage(morethan30days)add
stabilizer/conditioneradditivetothefuelinthetank.
A.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
B.Eitherstoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrain
thefueltank,oroperatetheengineuntilitstops.
C.Restarttheengineandrunituntilitstops.Repeat,
onChoke,untiltheenginewillnotrestart.
D.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasperlocal
codes.
Note:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover90days.
3.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamagedordefective.
4.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDistributor.
5.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
