Assembly (Fig. 59)
NOTE: When assembling the motor, check the marker
line on each part to make sure the parts are properly
aligned during assembly.
1. Lubricate O--rings, pressure seals, back--up seals
andthrustplategrooveswithathincoatofpetroleumjel-
ly. Lubricate all other internal parts freely with c lean hy-
draulic oil.
2. Install new seals into front cover (Fig. 61):
A. Press shaft seal into front cover until it reaches
the bottom of the bore.
B. Install back--up washer into front cover and then
installretainingringintothegrooveofthefrontcover.
Make sure that retaining ring is fully seated in front
cover groove.
C. Install new dust seal into front cover.
3. Place front cover, seal side down, on a flat s urface.
4. Install the pressure seals, flat side outward, into the
grooves in the thrust plates. Follow by carefully placing
theback--up seals, flatside outward,between thepres-
sure seals and the grooves in the thrust plate.
5. Applyalightcoatingofpetroleumjellytotheexposed
side of the front cover.
6. Lubricatethedrivegearshaftwithcleanhydraulicoil.
Insert the drive end of the drive shaft through the thrust
platewiththepressuresealsidedownandtheopenside
of the pressure seal pointing to the inlet side of the mo-
tor. Carefully install shaft into front cover.
7. Lubricatetheidlergearshaftwithcleanhydraulicoil.
Install idler gear shaft into the remaining position in the
frontthrustplate.Applyalightcoatingofcleanhydraulic
oil to gear faces.
8. Installrearthrustplatewithpressuresealsideupand
open side of the pressure seal pointing to the inlet side
of the motor.
9. Applyalightcoating ofpetroleumjellytonewO--ring
andO-- r ing grooveinthe body.Install newO--ringtothe
body.
10.Install locating dowel pins in body. Align marker line
on the body and front cover.
IMPORTANT: Do not dislodge seals during installa-
tion.
11.Gently slide the body onto the assembly. Firm hand
pressure should besufficient to engagethe dowel pins.
12.Install the four (4) socket head screwswithwashers
and hand tighten screws.
IMPORTANT: Prevent damage when c lamping the
motor into a vise; clamp on the front flange only.
Also, use a vise with soft jaws.
13.Place front flange of the motor into a vise with s oft
jaws and alternately torquethecap screws 18 ft--lb (25
N--m).
14.Remove motor from vise.
15.Placeasmallamountofcleanhydraulicoilintheinlet
ofthemotorandrotatethedriveshaftawayfromtheinlet
one revolution. If any binding is noted,disassemblethe
motor and check for assembly problems.
