CuttingUnitMaintenance
BladeSafety
Awornordamagedbladeorbedknifecanbreak,and
apiececouldbethrowntowardyouorbystanders,
resultinginseriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
•Inspectthebladesandbedknivesperiodicallyfor
excessivewearordamage.
•Usecarewhencheckingtheblades.Weargloves
andusecautionwhenservicingthem.Only
replaceorbacklapthebladesandbedknives;
neverstraightenorweldthem.
•Onmachineswithmultiplecuttingunits,takecare
whenrotatingacuttingunit;itcancausethereels
intheothercuttingunitstorotate.

CAUTION
Thecutting-unitbladesaresharpandcancut
yourhands.
Wearheavyleatherorcut-resistantgloves
whenhandlingthecuttingunits.
Note:Whensharpening,settingtheheightofcut,
orperformingothermaintenanceproceduresonthe
cuttingunits,storethecuttingunitreelmotorsinthe
storagelocationonthefrontofthesuspensionarms
topreventdamagetothem.
Important:Donotraisethesuspensiontothe
transportpositionwhenthereelmotorsarein
theholdersinthemachineframe.Damagetothe
motorsorhosescouldresult.
Important:Wheneveryouneedtotipthecutting
unit,propuptherearofthecuttingunittoensure
thatthenutsonthebedbaradjustingscrewsare
notrestingontheworksurface(Figure45).
