Troubleshooting
Thereareanumberoffactorsthatcancontributetounsatisfactoryqualityofcut,
someofwhichmaybeturfconditions.Conditionssuchastheexcessivethatch,
sponginess,orattemptingtocutofftoomuchgrassheightmaynotalwaysbe
overcomebyadjustingthecuttingunitormachine.Itisimportanttoremember
thatthelowertheheight-of-cutsetting,themorecriticalthesefactorsare.
Rememberthattheeffectiveoractualheight-of-cutdependsonthecuttingunit
weight,tirepressures,hydrauliccounterbalancesettings,andturfconditions.

1.Maximumgovernedenginespeed
Checkthattheengineisrunningatthecorrect
high-idlespeed.
Alwaysmowathighenginespeed.
2.BladespeedAllthecuttingunitbladesshouldrotateatthe
samespeed.
3.Tirepressure
Checktheairpressureofallthetiresincluding
castortires.Adjusttothepressuresspecied
intheOperator’sManual.
4.Bladecondition
Sharpenthebladesiftheircuttingedgesare
dullornicked.
Inspectthebladesailforwearordamage.
Replacethebladeifnecessary.
5.MowerhousingconditionEnsurethatthecuttingchamberisingood
condition.
Keeptheundersideofthecuttingunitclean.
Theunwantedmaterialbuildupcanreducethe
cuttingperformance.
6.Height-of-cutEnsurethatallcuttingunitheight-of-cut
adjustmentsarethesame.Adjustthecutting
unitasspeciedintheOperator’sManual.The
effective(actual)height-of-cutmaybedifferent
thanthebenchsetheight-of-cut.
7.CuttingunitalignmentandgroundfollowingChecktheliftarmsforwear,damage,or
binding.Also,inspectforbentordamaged
pivotshafts.
8.RollerandcastorwheelconditionAllrollersandcasterwheelsshouldrotate
freely.Replacethebearingsiftheyareworn
ordamaged.
9.GrassconditionsMowwhenthegrassisdryforbestcutting
results.Also,removeonly2.5cm(1inch)or
1/3ofthegrassbladewhencutting.
10.Machinetractionspeed
Mowingattoofastofatractionspeedwill
resultinpooraftercutappearanceandmissed
patchesofgrass.
