•Checktheair-cleanerbodyfordamagethatcould
causeanairleak.Replaceadamagedair-cleaner
body.Checkthewholeintakesystemforleaks,
damage,orloosehoseclamps.
•Replacetheaircleanerelementwhenthe
air-cleanerindicator(Figure42)showsred.Donot
over-cleantheair-lterelement.

•Ensurethatthecoverseatscorrectlyandseals
withtheair-cleanerbody.
ReplacingtheAirCleaner
Elements
ServiceInterval:Every50hours—Inspectthe
air-cleanerelement.
Every400hours—Replacetheprimary
air-cleanerelement(s)(earlieriftheaircleaner
indicatorshowsred,andmorefrequentlyin
extremelydirtyordustyconditions).Replace
thesafetylterafterevery3primaryair-cleaner
elementreplacements.
Important:Avoidusinghigh-pressureairthat
couldforcedirtthroughthelterandintothe
intaketract,causingdamage.Thiscleaning
processpreventsdebrisfrommigratingintothe
intakewhenyouremovetheprimarylter.
Important:Donotcleantheusedelementto
preventthepossibilityofdamagingthelter
media.Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamage,
checkingthesealingendofthelterandthebody.
Donotuseadamagedelement.
Important:Ensurethatthecoverseatscorrectly
andsealswiththeair-cleanerbody.
