6.Slidespacerringandinnerbearingspacerintospindlehousing,theninstall
upperbearingconeandgreasedoilsealintotopofhousing.NOTE:The
uppersealmusthavethelipfacingout(up)(Figure303).
7.Inspectthespindleshaftandshaftspacertomakesuretherearenoburrs
ornicksthatcouldpossiblydamagetheoilseals.Lubricatetheshaftand
spacerwithgrease.
8.Installspindleshaftspacerontoshaft.Placethinsleeveortapeonspindle
shaftsplinestopreventsealdamageduringshaftinstallation.
9.Carefullyslidespindleshaftwithspacerupthroughspindlehousing.The
bottomoilsealandspindlespacershouldttogetherwhenthespindle
isfullyinstalled.
10.Threadspindlenutontoshaftandtightennutfrom178to215N·m(131
to159ft-lb).
IMPORTANT
Pneumaticgreasegunscanproducehighpressureinsidespindle
housingthatcandamagespindleseals.Pneumaticgreaseguns,
therefore,arenotrecommendedtobeusedforgreasingofspindle
housings.
11.Attachahandpumpgreaseguntooneofthegreasettingsonhousingand
llhousingcavitywithgreaseuntilgreasestartstocomeoutoflowerseal.
12.Rotatespindleshafttomakesurethatitturnsfreely.
13.Installbladespindleassemblytocuttingdeck(seeBladeSpindleAssembly
(page9–4)).
