RemovingthePolarTracLiftCylinder
WARNING
Beforedisconnectingordoinganyworkonthehydraulicsystem,
releaseallthepressureinthesystem;refertoReleasingPressure
fromtheHydraulicSystem(page4–11).
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowertheimplement,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Cleanthehydraulichoseendsandttingsontheliftcylindertoprevent
contaminantsfromenteringintothehydraulicsystem.
3.Forassemblypurposes,labelallthehydraulichosesandttings.
4.Disconnectthehydraulichosesthatareconnectedtothehydraulicttingson
theliftcylinder.
5.Installcleancapsorplugsinthehoseopeningstopreventsystem
contamination.
6.Removethelocknut(item32inFigure130),ange-headscrew,andpivotpin
thatattachthecylinderheadoftheliftcylindertothecarrierframe.
7.Removethelocknut(item32inFigure130),ange-headscrew,andpivotpin
thatattachtheliftcylinderrodendtotheliftarmassembly.
8.Removetheliftcylinderfromthemachine.
9.Ifnecessary,removethehydraulicttingsfromtheliftcylinder.Notethe
orientationofthettingsforassemblypurposes.
10.RemoveanddiscardtheO-ringsfromttings.
InstallingthePolarTracLiftCylinder
1.Ifthehydraulicttingswereremovedfromtheliftcylinder,lubricateand
installnewO-ringsontothettings.Installthettingsintotheliftcylinder
ports;refertoInstallingtheHydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThreadO-Ring
FittingintotheComponentPort)(page4–7).Usethenotesthatyourecorded
duringremovaltoorientatethettings.
2.Positiontheliftcylindertothemachine.
3.Attachthecylinderheadofthecylindertothecarrierframewiththepivot
pin,ange-headscrew,andlocknut.
4.Attachthecylinderrodendtotheliftarmassemblywiththepivotpin,
ange-headscrew,andlocknut.
5.Removethecapsorplugsthatwereinstalledtothehydraulichosesduring
theremovalprocess.
6.Usethelabelsthatyouattachedduringtheliftcylinderremovaltocorrectly
connectthehydraulichosestotheliftcylinderttings;refertoInstallingthe
HydraulicHoseandTube(O-RingFaceSealFitting)(page4–5).
7.Lubricatethegreasettingsonthecylinderpivotpins.
8.Ensurethatthehydraulictankisfull.Addcorrectquantityofuidifnecessary;
refertotheTractionUnitOperator’sManual.
