TheStandardControlModule(SCM)monitorstheoperationofthekeyswitch.
WhenthekeyswitchisintheONposition,theSCMpowerinputLEDmustbe
illuminated.
TestingtheKeySwitch
1.Beforeyoudisconnectthekeyswitchfortesting,ensurethatyoutestthe
switchanditscircuitwiringasaSCMinput;refertoStandardControlModule
(page5–3).
2.IftheSCMveriesthatthekeyswitchandcircuitwiringarefunctioning
correctly,nofurtherswitchtestingisnecessary.
3.IftheSCMdeterminesthatthekeyswitchandcircuitwiringarenot
functioningcorrectly,thentestthekeyswitchasfollows:
A.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.Disconnectthewire
harnessconnectorfromthekeyswitch.
B.ThecircuitryofthekeyswitchisshownintheCircuitLogicT able(page
5–24).Withtheuseofamultimeter(ohmssetting),testtheswitch
functionstodetermineifthecontinuityexistsbetweenthevarious
terminalsforeachswitchposition.Checkthecontinuitybetweenthe
switchterminals.
C.Replacethekeyswitchifnecessary.
D.Ifthekeyswitchtestingiscorrectandthecircuitproblemstillexists,
checkthewireharness;refertotheElectricalSchematicsandWire
HarnessDrawings/DiagramsinAppendixA—FoldoutDrawings.
E.Connectthemachinewireharnessconnectortothekeyswitch.
