Toro Groundsmaster 7210 - PTO Circuit

PTOCircuit
ThetransmissionoftheGroundsmaster7210machineconsistsofahydraulic,
multi-plateclutchthatisusedtoengagethePTO.ThehydraulicowforthePTO
clutchengagementisprovidedbythetransmission-chargepump.
WhenthePTOswitchisturnedon,thetransmissionsolenoidvalveisenergized
toallowthehydraulicowtoengagethePTOclutch.AsthePTOclutchengages,
anintegralPTObrakeisreleasedatthesametimetoallowtherotationofthe
driveshaftandcuttingdeck(orimplement).Anoriceandaccumulatorinthe
transmissionpreventsuddenengagementofthePTO.
WARNING
TheGroundsmaster7210machinehasahydraulicaccumulatorbuilt
intothetransmissionthatstoresenergybycompressingaspring.
Thispressuremustbereleasedbeforedisconnectingordoingany
workonthehydraulicsystem;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page4–11).
ThepressuretothePTOclutchislimitedbythepressurevalveinthe
transmission.Thepressure-valvesettingis1,930to2,340kPa(280to340psi).
WhenthePTOswitchisturnedoff,thetransmissionsolenoidvalveis
de-energizedandthePTOclutchisdisengaged.TheintegralPTObrake
isappliedtocontrolthestoppingrateofthedriveshaftandcuttingdeck(or
implement).
