bevelededgeoftheretainingringtostarttheretainingringthroughthe
opening.Rotatetheheadcounterclockwisetoremovetheretainingring
fromthebarrelandhead..
4.Removetheplugsfromtheports.Carefullytwistandpulltheshaftand
removetheshaftwithheadandpiston.
IMPORTANT
Clampingthevisejawsagainsttheshaftsurfacecoulddamagethe
shaft.Whensecuringtheshaftinavise,clamptheshaftclevisonly.
5.Useawrenchonshaftatstopreventtheshaftfromrotating,removethe
locknut.
6.Carefullyslidethepistonandthenheadofftheshaft.
Note:Donotscratchordamagethepiston.
7.Removethewearring,BPseal,andO-ringfromthepiston.
Note:Donotscratchordamagethehead.
8.RemovetheO-ring,back-upwasher,dustseal,andBSsealfromthehead.
9.DiscardthesealsandO-ringsthatwereremoved.
InspectingtheSteeringCylinder
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
1.Washallthecylindercomponentsincleansolventanddrythemwith
compressedair.
2.Inspecttheinternalsurfaceofthebarrelfordeepscratches,out-of-roundness,
andbending.
3.Inspectthehead,shaft,andpistonforexcessivepitting,scoring,andwear.
4.Replacethesteeringcylinderiftheinternalcomponentsarewornor
damaged.
AssemblingtheSteeringCylinder
1.Ensurethatallthepartsarecleanbeforeassembly.
2.PutacoatingofcleanhydraulicuidonnewO-rings,back-upwasher,and
otherseals.
A.Carefullyinstallthewearring,BPseal,andO-ringtothepiston.
B.Carefullyinstalltheback-upwasher,O-ring,dustseal,andBSseal
tothehead.
3.Putacoatingofcleanhydraulicuidontheshaft.Slidetheheadandpiston
ontotheshaft.
IMPORTANT
Clampingthevisejawsagainsttheshaftsurfacecoulddamagethe
shaft.Whensecuringtheshaftinavise,clamptheshaftclevisonly.
