RefertoFigure98forthisprocedure.
1.Ifthebearingcupswereremovedfromtheframe,pressnewbearingcups
intotheframemakingsurethattheyfullycontacttheshoulderintheframe.
2.PackthebearingconeswithMolilgreaseXHPhightemperaturegrease(or
equivalent).
3.Slidethebearingspacerontothefrontforkshaft,thenpressthelower
bearingconeontotheforkshaft.
4.Raisethefrontforkupthroughtheframe.Placetheupperbearingconeand
atwasheronthefrontforkshaft.Threadtheslottedhexnutontothefork
shaftbutdonotfullytighten.
5.Settheforkbearingsbytighteningtheslottedhexnutfrom10to13N·m(8
to10ft-lb)whilerotatingthefrontforkbyhand.Then,loosenthenutuntil
theforkhasendplay.
6.Next,tightentheslottedhexnutfrom25to29N·m(18to22ft-lb)while
rotatingtheforkbyhand.Afternaltightening,makesurethattheforkdoes
nothaveanyendplayanditrotateswithoutbinding.
7.Securetheslottedhexnutwithanewcotterpin.
Note:Iftheholeintheforkshaftdoesnotlineupwithaslotintheslotted
nut,tightenthenutenoughtoexposetheholeintheshaft.
