chargerbeforeconnectingordisconnectingthe
battery.Wearprotectiveclothinganduseinsulated
tools.
ServicingtheBattery
RemovingtheBattery
WARNING
Incorrectlyremovingthecablesfrombattery
coulddamagethemachineandcables,
causingsparks.Sparkscancausethebattery
gassestoexplode,resultinginpersonal
injury.
Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Loosenthe2fastenersonthebatterycover
counterclockwise1/4turn,andremovethe
batterycover(Figure55).
