ServicingtheElectronic
Fuel-InjectionSystem
Thismachinecontainsanelectronicfuel-injection
system.Itcontrolsthefuelowunderdifferent
operatingconditions.
Theelectroniccontrolunit(ECU)continuously
monitorstheoperationoftheEFIsystem.
Ifaproblemorfaultwithinthesystemisdetected,the
malfunctionindicatorlight(MIL)illuminates.TheMIL
istheredlightlocatedintherightconsolepanel.
OncetheMILilluminates,makeinitialtroubleshooting
checks.RefertotheMILsectionunder
Troubleshooting(page72).
Ifthesechecksdonotcorrecttheproblem,further
diagnosisandservicingbyanAuthorizedService
Dealerisnecessary.
Replacingthe
Low-PressureFuelFilter
ServiceInterval:Every200hours/Yearly(whichever
comesrst)
Thefuellterislocatedneartheengineonthefront
orrearsideoftheengine.
1.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch(PTO),move
themotion-controlleverstotheNEUTRAL-LOCK
position,andsettheparkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Waitforthemachinetocooldown.
4.Closethefuel-shutoffvalveundertheseat
(Figure55).

installedatthefactorytokeepthefuellineaway
fromcomponentsthatcancausefuellinedamage.
Servicingthe
High-PressureFuelFilter
Donotattempttoservicethehigh-pressurefuel
lter.Thehigh-pressurelterisintegratedwithin
thefuel-pumpmodule.Thefuellterandother
componentsinsidethefuel-pumpmodulearenot
serviceable.
Important:Donotattempttoopenthefuel-pump
module.
EnsurethatanAuthorizedServiceDealerreplaces
thefuel-pumpmodulewiththehigh-pressurefuellter.
ServicingtheFuelTank
Donotattempttodrainthefueltank.Ensurethatan
AuthorizedServiceDealerdrainsthefueltankand
servicesanycomponentsofthefuelsystem.
