To install the logic card, complete the following steps:
1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the logic card to any unpainted
metal surface; then remove the logic card from the package. Do not set the card
down.
2. Orient the logic card so the printed circuit board is facing the unit.
3. Connect the cables to the logic card. When you connect the thermal printhead
flat cable, ensure the blue area is facing to the right.
4. Insert the header pins on the edge of the logic card into the flex cable connector
on the frame.
5. Rotate the top of the logic card into place until it you hear a click.
Note: Ensure that the ground strap makes contact with the tab on the logic
card.
6. Replace the covers (see “Removing the covers” on page 53 for information on
replacing the covers that you removed).
7. Connect the signal and power cables to the printer and turn the printer on.
After replacing the logic card, the serial number must be restored to the card (see
“Storing a new serial number in the firmware after a logic or interface card change”
on page 48).
Removing the thermal printhead flat cable
To remove the thermal printhead flat cable, complete the following steps:
1. Remove the top and main covers from the printer unit (see “Removing the top
cover” on page 53 for information on how to remove the covers).
2. Remove the logic card (See “Removing the logic card” on page 60 for
information on how to remove the logic card).
Note: Do not disconnect any cables other than the thermal printhead flat cable
from the logic card.
3. Remove the thermal printhead (see “Removing the thermal printhead” on page
58).
4. Remove the cable from the printer unit.
