IPedge RECOVERY DISK Remote Console Function

IPedge RECOVERY DISK The following procedure details the server recovery using the IPedge
Recovery Disk.
Important! Before starting the recovery process ensure that the LAN
cable is connected to the eth0 connector and a LAN
cable is connected to the IPMI port.
WARNING! The recovery DVD will reformat the server hard disk
drive then reinstall all operating software. All of the
customer database will be deleted and overwritten.
Use the Manual backup procedure to create a database
backup and store the backup files off the server.
Remote Console Function The remote console operation procedures.
1. Enter the IP address of the IPMI port in a web browser. Login to the
IPMI port. The default login is:
User Name: ADMIN
Password: ADMIN.
Note: The IPMI user name and password are case sensitive.
Note: The user name and password should have been changed. Check
with the System Administrator.
Recovery Procedure 2. In the IPMI window open the remote console.
EC Servers - Click on Remote Control > KVM Console
EM Servers - Click on Remote Control > Launch Console
The IPedge server console is displayed on the remote PC.
3. Insert the recovery DVD into the IPedge server DVD drive.
4. Reboot the server:
For EC servers: Click on Power Down wait for the server to power
down then, click on Power On.
For EM servers: Click on: Remote Control > Remote Power then,
Click on Power Off Server-Orderly Shutdown then, click on
Perform Action. Wait for the server to power down. If a message
about ‘the power down failed’ appears, click on OK and wait. After the
server powers down select Power On Server then, click on Perform
Action.
5. Click on the Remote Console screen to bring it to the front.
6. After rebooting the server, you will see the server restarting in the
remote console screen on the remote PC.
7. For IPedge EC servers go to Step 8.
For IPedge EM servers go to Step 16.
8. As soon as you see text begin to appear on the screen press the Del
key on the keyboard every second or two.
