Using Cables
To enable importing of images on the PDR-M5 to your personal computer, the PDR-M5 must be connected to your
personal computer by cable.
There are two ways of connecting the PDR-M5 to your personal computer:
By using the USB cable
Windows 98 pre-installed PC
New Power Macintosh G3, iMac
By using the serial cable
Windows 98/95/NT 4.0 pre-installed PC
New Power Macintosh G3, Macintosh’s other than the iMac, or Power Macintosh
How to Use the USB Cable
When you connect the PDR-M5 to your personal computer by USB cable, the connection can be made
with both the PDR-M5 and your personal computer turned ON.
IMPORTANT
If the camera’s power is turned OFF while image data is being transferred to the PC, the data may be
damaged. When the PDR-M5 is connected to the personal computer, use the AC adapter.
When the camera is in the [
] PC mode, the Auto Power OFF function does not work.
Windows 98
Connect one end of the USB cable to the DIGITAL terminal on the PDR-M5.
Connect the other end of the USB cable to the your personal computer or to the
USB port on the USB hub.
