The SETUP section
This section of the Hardware Configuration dialog box displays
general information about the system:
The MEMORY section
This section shows how the computer’s memory is allocated.
These values are calculated automatically by the system and
cannot be changed.
Information Discussion
BIOS Version indicates the version and date of the computer’s
Basic Input/Output System (BIOS).
Configuration indicates whether you’re using the default configu-
ration settings (Default Settings), or have changed
any of the configuration settings (Custom
Settings).
Memory Type Description
Base displays the amount of conventional memory
available to the computer.
Extended displays the amount of extended memory
available.
Shadow RAM displays the amount of memory available for
Shadow RAM. Shadow RAM copies (shadows)
the computer’s BIOS functions from ROM into
faster RAM to improve system speed.
Total displays the total amount of memory installed.
