This maintenance manual describes how to perform hardware service maintenance for the

faultyFieldReplaceableUnits(FRUs)andreplacetheminthefield.

attention.Eachofthesemessageswillbeitalicizedandidentifiedasshownbelow.
DANGER:“Danger”indicatestheexistenceofahazardthatcouldresultindeathor
seriousbodilyinjury,ifthesafetyinstructionisnotobserved.
WARNING:“Warning”indicatestheexistenceofahazardthatcouldresultinbodily
injury,ifthesafetyinstructionisnotobserved.
CAUTION:“Caution”indicatestheexistenceofahazardthatcouldresultinproperty
damage,ifthesafetyinstructionisnotobserved.
NOTE:“Note”containsgeneralinformationthatrelatestoyoursafemaintenance
service.
Improper repair of the computer may result in safety hazards. Toshiba requires service
technicians and authorized dealers or service providers to ensure the following safety
precautionsareadheredtostrictly.
Be sure to fasten screwssecurely with the right screwdriver. Ifa screwis not fully
fastened,itcouldcomeloose,creatingadangerofashortcircuit,whichcouldcause
overheating,smokeorfire.
Ifyoureplacethebatterypack,RTCbatteryorbackupbattery,besuretouseonlythe
samemodelbatteryoranequivalentbatteryrecommendedbyToshiba.Installationof
thewrongbatterycancausethebatterytoexplode.
