At lea s t once a month, dis connect the compute r from a powe r source a nd
ope rate it on ba ttery power until the ba ttery pack fully discha rge s . Be fore
doing s o, follow the s te ps a s de ta ile d be low.
1. Turn off the compute r's powe r.
2. Dis conne ct the AC a da ptor a nd turn on the compute r's powe r - if it
doe s not turn on the n go to S te p 4.
3. Ope ra te the compute r on ba ttery powe r for five minute s. If you find
tha t the ba tte ry pa ck ha s a t le a s t five minutes of ope ra ting time ,
continue ope ra ting until the ba tte ry pa ck is fully dis charge d, however, if
the DC IN/Battery indicator fla s he s or the re is s ome othe r wa rning to
indica te a low battery condition, go to Step 4.
4. Conne ct the AC a daptor to the DC IN 19V ja ck of the compute r, a nd
to a wa ll outlet that is s upplying powe r. The DC IN/Ba tte ry indica tor
should glow amber to indica te that the ba tte ry pa ck is be ing cha rge d,
howe ve r, in the e ve nt tha t DC IN/Ba tte ry indicator doe s not glow this
indica te s tha t powe r is not be ing s upplie d - che ck the conne ctions for
the AC a da ptor a nd the power cord.
5. Cha rge the ba ttery pack until the DC IN/Ba tte ry indica tor glows
white (P 70-A)/red(X70-A).

The ope ra ting life of the ba tte ry pack will gra dua lly re duce through
repe ated charging a nd dis cha rging, and will need to be re pla ce d when it
reache s the e nd of its ope ra ting life. In a ddition to this , you might a ls o
repla ce a dis cha rged battery pa ck with a charge d s pa re whe n you a re
ope rating your compute r a way from an AC powe r s ource for a n e xtende d
pe riod of time .

Do not re move the batte ry pa ck while the compute r is in S le e p Mode .
Da ta is s tored in RAM, s o if the compute r loses powe r it could be lost.
In Hibe rna tion Mode, da ta will be lost if you re move the ba ttery pa ck or
dis conne ct the AC a da ptor be fore the s ave is completed.
Do not touch the ba tte ry releas e la tch while holding the computer or
the ba tte ry pa ck might fa ll out due to the uninte ntional re le a s e of the
