LAN c a b le t y p e s
The compute r mus t be configure d prope rly be fore conne cting to a LAN.
Logging onto a LAN us ing the compute r’s de fa ult settings could caus e a
ma lfunction in LAN operation. Check with your LAN a dministrator re ga rding
set-up proce dures.
If you a re us ing Gigabit Ethe rne t LAN (1000 me ga bits pe r second,
1000BAS E-T), be s ure to conne ct with a CAT5e ca ble or highe r. You
ca nnot us e a CAT3 or CAT5 ca ble.
If you a re us ing Fa st Ethe rne t LAN (100 mega bits pe r s e cond, 100BAS E-
TX), be s ure to conne ct with a CAT5 ca ble or highe r. You cannot use a
CAT3 cable .
If you a re us ing Ethe rne t LAN (10 me ga bits per s e cond, 10BASE-T), you
ca n conne ct with a CAT3 or highe r ca ble .
C o n n e c t in g t h e LAN c a b le
To connect the LAN ca ble , follow the s teps a s de ta ile d be low:
Conne ct the AC a da ptor be fore connecting the LAN ca ble. The AC
a da ptor must re main connecte d during LAN us e . If you dis connect the
AC Ada ptor while the compute r is a ccess ing a LAN, the s ys te m ma y
ha ng up.
Do not connect a ny other cable to the LAN ja ck e xcept the LAN ca ble .
Othe rwis e , ma lfunctions or da ma ge ma y occur.
Do not connect a ny power s upplying de vice to the LAN ca ble tha t is
conne cte d to the LAN ja ck. Othe rwis e , ma lfunctions or da mage ma y
