Multidrive S
Multidrive S is a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
featuring a manual override, sequential 7-step mode
Multidrive S replaces the 6MMT on 1.6 Valvematic and
the 4-speed A/T on 1.6 VVT-i, oering:
– Smooth driving with no compromise on CO
2
and
fuel consumption
– Better acceleration from standstill compared to
manual transmission models
– Wider range of gear ratios compared to 4A/T .
MultiMode
Available with 1.4 D-4D models, MultiMode is a manual
transmission with a fully automatic shift mode and no
clutch pedal. MultiMode is not an automatic transmission,
however customers may not fully appreciate this fact
at the buying stage. Therefore, a proper explanation
and test drive is systematically required to ensure
MultiMode meets customer expectations
Selecting E, M or R and releasing the brake allows the
car to ‘creep’ like a full automatic
In E mode, the car makes automatic shifts at engine
speeds that will maximise fuel economy
Selecting ES will delay changing up to higher rpm,
giving a more sporty style of drive
With M selected the driver chooses their own up and
down shift speeds, though the ECU protects the
driveline from possible damage caused by excessive rpm.
