A child restraint syst em for a small
child or baby must i tself be properl y
restr ained on th e seat wit h the l ap por-
tion of the lap/ shoulder belt. You m ust
careful ly consult the manuf acturer’s i n-
struct ions which accompany the chi ld
restr aint system.
To pr ovide proper rest raint , use a child
restraint system following the manufac tur-
er ’s i nstr ucti ons about the appr opriat e age
and s ize of the c hild for the chi ld restr aint
system.
Install the child restraint system correctly
foll owing the ins truc tions prov ided by its
manufact urer.
The child restraint system should be
inst alled on the rear seat. Acc ording to
acci dent stat ist ics , the chi ld is saf er when
properl y r estr ained i n t he r ear seat t han
in the front s eat.
CAUTION
When t he chil d rest raint system i s
not in use:
D Keep t he chil d restr aint system
properl y secured on the seat even
if it is not in use. Do not store the
restr aint unsecured in t he passen-
ger compartment.
D If it is necessary to detach the
child rest raint system, r emove it
from t he vehi cle or stor e i t secur ely
in t he luggage compartment . This
will prevent i t fr om inj uring passen-
gers in t he event of a sudden stop,
sudden swerve or accident.
When installing a child restraint system
secur ely, you will need a locking cl ip.
If your child restraint system does not
provi de a loc king cl ip, you can purc hase
the f ollowi ng it em fr om y our Toyot a dealer.

your vehicle is equipped with a child
restr aint anchor f itt ing on the back of
each outer seat on t he two seat si de.
When installing a child restraint, follow
both the i nstr ucti ons here and thos e pro-
vided by the m anufact urer of y our child
restraint.
