spanning-tree mode
The spanning-tree mode Global Configuration mode command configures the spanning-tree protocol. To return
to the default configuration, use the no form of this command.
Syntax
spanning-tree mode {stp | rstp| mstp}
no spanning-tree mode
Parameters
stp — Indicates that the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is enabled.
rstp — Indicates that the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) is enabled.
mstp — Indicates that the Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) is enabled.
Default Configuration
RSTP is enabled.
Command Modes
Global Configuration mode
User Guidelines
In RSTP mode, the device uses STP when the neighbor device uses STP.
In MSTP mode, the device uses RSTP when the neighbor device uses RSTP and uses STP when the neighbor
device uses STP.
Example
The following example configures the spanning-tree protocol to RSTP.
console(config)# spanning-tree mode rstp
