Unit Placement & Assembly
12
FAILURE TO PROVIDE A LEVEL PLINTH OR SUPPORT
WILL RESULT IN DOORS JAMMING AND AIR LEAKS
FROM THE CASING.
IMPORTANT
To minimize noise transmission, insulation material such as
cork slabbing (TICO pads) or rubber pad may be placed
between the unit base and the foundation (see Figure 12).
When mounting the unit on the pier mount, locate one pier at
each corner as a minimum, directly underneath any shipping
split (breakpoint) (ensure full support under each side) and
then every four feet at equally spaced intervals around the
perimeter of the unit. (See Figure 10 & Figure 11).
All air ducts should be installed in accordance with the
standards of the National Fire Protection Association for the
installation of Air Conditioning and Ventilating System other
than Residence Type (NFPA 90A), and Residence Type
Warm Air Heating and Air Conditioning System (90B).
Inlet and discharge air duct connections to the unit should be
made with a flexible material minimizing noise and vibration.
Typically, about three inches is needed for this connection to
rigid ductwork.
Ducts should be designed as a function of the fan orientation.
Duct turns and transitions must be made carefully to minimize
air friction losses. Avoid sharp turns and use splitters or
turning vanes when elbows are necessary. Make turn in the
same direction of rotation as the fan. Discharge ductwork
should run in a straight line, unchanged in size or direction, for
at least a distance of 1-1/2-fan diameters. Refer to Figure 13A
and Figure 13B for typical ductwork installation.

Do not disconnect ducts from a unitwhile
in operation. Never operate a unit unless
it is connected to the duct system.
