INSTALLATION CONTINUED
LOCKING THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT
IMPORTANT! If the smoke detector does not
sound during testing, do not lock the battery
compartment. Install a new battery and test
again. If it still does not sound, replace the
smoke detector immediately.
1. Using needle-nose pliers or a utility knife, detach
one locking pin from mounting bracket.
(See Figure 5)

2. Insert locking pin into notch on base of smoke
detector to attach mounting bracket. (See Figure 6)

UNLOCKING THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT
1. Insert a flathead screwdriver between the mounting
bracket pin and the mounting bracket.
2. Gently pry the smoke detector away from the
bracket by turning both the screwdriver and the
smoke detector counterclockwise at the same time.
