Applications used by maintenance personnel for their tasks in the RCM
workstations, mainly Diagnostics and IO Terminal.
Technical event A message in the Diagnostics application indicating sensor problems in
the system.
weather data Weather parameter values in the Weather View application, in contrast
to system data.
weather data screen A screen in the Weather View application displaying weather data that
is updated several times a minute.
Weather View An AviMet application for viewing current weather data.
windshear A weather event involving abrupt changes in wind speed and/or
direction over a short distance. See also windshear alert and
windshear conditions.
windshear alert An alert generated in the Weather View application when the calculated
windshear conditions exist. See also windshear and windshear
conditions.

conditions
Based on horizontal wind speed and wind direction measurements, the
AviMet LLWAS system uses the LLWAS phase III algorithm to
compare the current wind situation differences to airport-specific
threshold values to determine if possible windshear conditions exist.
These calculated conditions are referred to as windshear conditions. See
also windshear alert, windshear, and LLWAS algorithm.
workstation A PC with a set of applications. Different workstations include different
applications and functions. See also WV, FWS, OWS, and RCM
workstation.
