Overview

This document provides regulatory guidelines and safety information for a tumble dryer, also referred to as a clothes dryer or secadora. The manual is available in English, French, Dutch, and Spanish, and was published in July 2021 (07/2021 - V1).

Function Description:

The appliance is designed for drying textiles that have been previously washed and spun in a washing machine. It is intended for domestic use and is suitable for drying normally damp cotton textiles using its standard cotton program, which is also the most energy-efficient program for this purpose and may be identified by the term "ECO." The drying cycle includes a final cool-down phase without heat to ensure items are not damaged by excessive temperatures.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Drying Capacity: The appliance is designed to dry a maximum mass of dry laundry in kilograms, as indicated on a sheet attached to the instructions.
  • Power Supply: The appliance is powered by an alternating current and must be connected to a mains socket with a protective earth connection. It should not be connected via an extension cable or power strip.
  • Refrigeration System: If the appliance is a condensing dryer with a heat pump, it is equipped with a hermetic motor-compressor refrigeration system. Users are cautioned not to damage this refrigeration circuit.
  • Ventilation: The appliance requires adequate ventilation to prevent the backflow of gas from other fuel-burning appliances. If it is a vent dryer, the exhausted air must not be evacuated into a duct used for fumes from other appliances. Ventilation openings at the base must not be blocked.

Usage Features:

  • Safety for Children: The appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above, and by individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities, or lack of experience/knowledge, provided they are supervised and instructed on safe use and associated risks. Children under 3 years old should be kept away unless constantly supervised. Children should not play with the device, nor perform cleaning or maintenance without supervision.
  • Pre-Drying Preparation:
    • Always read textile labels before placing items in the dryer to avoid damage.
    • Remove all items, such as lighters and matches, from pockets before drying.
    • Do not dry unwashed items.
    • Items soiled with substances like cooking oil, acetone, alcohol, petrol, kerosene, stain removers, turpentine, wax, or wax removal substances should be washed in hot water with extra detergent before drying.
    • Items made of foam rubber (latex foam), shower caps, waterproof textiles, rubber-lined items, or clothing/pillows with foam rubber parts should not be dried.
    • Fabric softeners or similar products should be used according to their instructions.
  • Installation:
    • The appliance should not be installed on a carpet or similar floor covering that could block ventilation openings.
    • It must not be installed behind a locking door, a sliding door, or a door with a hinge on the opposite side, which would prevent full opening.
    • The power socket must remain accessible, or a switch must be installed in the wiring system to allow disconnection from the power supply.
    • Ensure sufficient space behind the appliance so it is not in direct contact with the mains socket.
  • Operation:
    • Never stop the appliance before the end of the drying cycle unless all items are quickly removed and spread out to dissipate heat.
    • The appliance must not be powered via an external switch (e.g., a timer) or connected to a circuit regularly switched on and off by the utility provider.
    • If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales department, or similarly qualified persons.
    • Do not use the appliance outdoors.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Consult the operating instructions for specific cleaning and maintenance details.
    • If a fluff collector (textile lint) is included, it should be cleaned frequently.
    • Do not allow fluff (textile lint) to accumulate around the appliance.
    • Do not use chemicals for cleaning the appliance.
    • Any cleaning or in-depth maintenance work must be performed with the electrical outlet disconnected.
    • Do not use a steam cleaner when cleaning the appliance.
  • Troubleshooting & After-Sales Service:
    • In case of malfunction not resolvable with the provided information, contact after-sales service.
    • For problems, first consult the operating guidelines, cleaning/maintenance chapters, and error code descriptions.
    • Use the self-diagnostic assessment tool on the Electro-Dépôt website (www.electrodepot.fr/sav for France, www.electrodepot.be/fr/sav or www.electrodepot.be/nl/dnv for Belgium, www.electrodepot.es/servicio-postventa for Spain).
    • If the problem persists, request support via the website or call the service number on your sales receipt/invoice.
    • The warranty is a minimum of 2 years from purchase, covering home shipment costs, professional intervention, and spare parts (excluding peace of mind or extended warranties).
    • Self-repair is possible, with tutorials available on www.spareka.fr (France only). However, any user or non-professional repair may jeopardize safety and property, and the manufacturer is not responsible for damages resulting from user error or non-compliance with repair instructions.
    • Before any intervention, disconnect the device from all power sources (electricity, water, etc.). Capacitors may need to be discharged using insulated tools to avoid electric shock.

Waste Management:

  • Users are legally responsible for sorting the product (including accessories), manuals, and packaging for recycling.
  • Electrical/electronic devices must not be sorted with other household waste.
  • Used products and packaging should be kept away from children.
  • Keep the manual(s) for the appliance's lifetime and transfer them with the appliance if it is given to a third party.
  • France Only: Refer to www.consignesdetri.fr for packaging and instructions, and www.quefairedemesdechets.fr for product recycling. Contact local authorities if internet access is unavailable.
