Kinds
Of
FRes
Are
There!
There
are
two basic types of
fUes:
program fUes and
data
fUes. Program files
contain
the detailed instructions that
the
computer needs
to
perform its tasks.
The
transient
commands already discussed are a special kind of program fUe,
called
command
files,
You will
use
command
fUes
to
move,
copy, rename, delete, change the status
of, and check
on
the other type:
data
files.
Data
files
contain
information
which you wish
to
store
or process in some way, such as a
list
of customers
who
have purchased a
certain
product,~
or
a
letter
to
a
vendor regarding
purchasing supplies. They
store
the information
