VECTOR 4 OPERATING COMMANDS
STAT d:SAMPLE.DOC $<ATr> [RETURN]
where
<ATT) is
replaced
with one of
the
four attributes (RIO,
R/W,
DIR, or
SYS)
explained above.
Be
sure
to
enter the $ in front
of
the
attribute;
this
tells the
STAT
program
that
you wish
to
change the
status
of
the
file.
The
STAT
program
can
be
used
on
files
stored
on
another
disk by simply
entering the name of the drive in place of
the
d:
in the line above.

If
you have a fUe
that
you
do
not want
to
change or erase
accidentally,
you
can
use
the
STAT command
to
protect
it.
To protect the file
SAMPLE.DOC
(stored on
the
B drive), enter the command:
STAT B:SAMPLE.DOC
$R/O
[RETURN]
The screen will display the message:

,SAMPLE.DOC
set
to
RIO
lA>

To save an entire disk or diskette the same way, enter the
,command:
STAT d:
$R/O
[RETURN]

all
files
on
the drive which you SUbstitute for
