Analyzer Signal should also be inspected to ensure correct integration parameters. For
more information, see “Signal” on page 133.
A Check Standard measurement at the midpoint of the detector range can also be run at
this time. While the Analyzer is completing the measurement cycle, it is best practice to
observe the flow of the sample into and out of the MFSV. These steps are all quickly
identifiable.
Open the Analyzer door to observe the following:
A. The MFSV fills with sample above the bottom of the MFSV Capillary Tube.
B. Sample is drawn out via the MFSV Capillary Tube to set the volume of the
MFSV below the MFSV Capillary Tube. This is applicable for all Methods
except TC, unless Dilution is enabled.
C. The Y9 Valve below the MFSV opens the gravity drain and the sample is
discharged to waste.
Perform a Visual Inspection and Diagnostics
Starting at the Furnace Foot, follow the tubing up to the Gas Cooler Unit and then
throughout the Sample Handling compartment. Any tubing and glassware that is
contaminated, broken, or restricted should be noted. Inspect the MFSV and mark the
MFSV Capillary Tube height with a permanent marker or electrical tape on the vessel.
This must be noted in order to maintain the expected configuration that was determined
during Analyzer Startup, or to identify the need to readjust the Method settings.
Ensure the Analyzer is in Offline Operating Mode.
Navigate to the following: Menu → Service → Valve Control. Cycle (turn O
N and OFF) all
valves five times each to ensure function.
NOTE: The Y8 Valve is not used and is unselectable. The Y10 and Y11 Valves
are powered together.
Navigate to the following: Menu → Service → Pump Control. Energize each pump to
ensure function. Only energize one pump at a time.
• For GP1 and GP4, “START” each pump for 5 seconds for both “Forward” and
“Backward” directions.
• For GP2, “START” the pump for 5 seconds.
• For GP3, press the “PUMP” button 5 times.
