The VIKING PS4116 is an immersion suit / constant wear suit designed for personal protection in cold water environments. It is approved according to the LSA Code MSC 48(66), IMO Res. MSC 81(70) as amended, and EN ISO 15027-1, achieving performance level D. The device also complies with Council Directive no. 89/686/EEC.

Function Description

The PS4116 serves as both a non-insulated immersion suit and a constant wear dry-type suit system. Its primary function is to provide thermal protection to the wearer in cold water. As a non-insulated immersion suit, it offers 1 hour of thermal protection at 5°C. As a constant wear suit, it provides 2 hours of thermal protection at 10°C, based on standard testing conditions in accordance with ISO 15027-3.

Important Warning: This suit system does not function as a personal flotation device and will not turn an unconscious wearer to a face-up position. To maintain SOLAS approval, it must be worn with a compatible SOLAS approved lifejacket. For ISO approval, it must be worn with an ISO approved lifejacket approved to EN ISO 12402 part 2 or 3. The suit system may also increase the risk of heat stress.

Underclothing Requirement: Always wear warm underwear, including cotton underwear (short-sleeved, short-legged), a long-sleeved heavy cotton shirt, cotton trousers, calf-length woolen socks, two woolen long-sleeved pullovers, and appropriate footwear.
Sealing: Neck seal and wrist cuffs must seal tightly to prevent water penetration.

Usage Features

Training Before Use: It is recommended that all users participate in training with the immersion suit in a swimming pool to become familiar with its use.

Donning Instructions (Figure 2):

Remove hood and footwear.
Don the suit, legs first.
Zip the front zipper.
Put on the hood.
Don the lifejacket.
Don the gloves.
Jump into the water feet first, then turn onto your back. If necessary, switch on the locating light.

Special Conditions: Store the suit in a cool, dark, and dry place.

Maintenance Features

Monthly Inspection: The suit should be checked at least once a month in accordance with IMO MSC/Circ. 1047. During this check, the front zipper must be lubricated with the enclosed lubricant.

Annual Inspection: VIKING recommends that the suit be inspected at an approved servicing station once a year. Any repairs should also be carried out by an approved servicing station. Information on servicing stations can be found at www.viking-life.com.

After Use in Water:

Rinse the suit exterior with fresh water.
Hang the suit to dry on a wide hanger and allow it to air.
Once dry, repack the immersion suit according to instructions or keep it on a wide hanger.

Cleaning (Figure 1): Refer to figure 1 for cleaning instructions or ship the immersion suit to a servicing station.

Packing the Suit (Figure 3):

Place the suit flat on the floor and unzip it.
Fold up the feet to the crotch.
Fold the legs up over the feet.
Fold the sleeves across the chest.
Place the suit into the bag.
