Summary

Operator's Manual Introduction

Manual Reading Importance

It is important that you read the operator's manual before using any machine.

Filters

Filter Types

The Viper Wet Vac comes with two filters: one for WET pick up (BLUE mesh), and one for DRY pick up (WHITE cloth).

Wet vs. Dry Filter Usage

DO NOT pick up wet material with the WHITE filter. Discard WHITE filter if only using for wet pick up.

Installing the Blue Mesh Filter

Place BLUE mesh filter inside tank. Gasket should rest on tank edge, vacuum head over filter. Protects motor from foam.

Vac-Motor Assembly

Seating the Vac-Motor Assembly

The vac-motor assembly should fit easily over the tank. Latches can break if not properly seated. Latches are replaceable.

Keeping the Vac Motor Dry

The vac motor assembly must be kept clean and dry. Water reaching the 'trumpet' can damage the motor. Empty tank frequently.

Ball Float Shut-Off

Function and Limitations

Ball float prevents liquids from reaching the motor. It indicates a full tank by motor sound, but FOAM BUILD-UP does not activate it.

Foam Build-Up Note

NOTE: 'Shut-off' means intake is sealed, causing loss of suction, not motor power off. Foam buildup does not trigger this.

Tank Emptying and Foam Control

When to Empty the Tank

Empty the tank when about ¼ full. Do not pick up more than 10-12 gallons of solution at once. Red line indicates max fill.

Foam Management

FOAM does not activate ball shut-off. Manufacturer recommends 'defoamer' for foam dissipation from stripper/finish solutions.

Excessive Foam Build-Up and Overfilling

Vacuum Air Intake Filter Screen

Keep filter screen clear. Clogging causes improper function and motor overheat. Overfilling liquid through screen damages motor.

Clogged Filter Impact

NOTE: A clogged filter screen causes the ball float shut-off to activate immediately upon powering on the vacuum.

Ground Plug

Importance of Ground Prong

Do not operate if ground prong is missing. Unplug by pulling the plug, not the cord. Replace missing prong immediately.

Hose Assembly and Cuff

Hose Coupler Maintenance

After each use, remove and rinse the coupler thoroughly. Lubricate threads for easier future removal.

Hose Cuff Condition

Remove and rinse hose cuff after each use. Floor strippers can cause brittleness/cracking. Replace if damaged for proper operation.

Maintenance

Regular Maintenance Tasks

Drain/rinse tank, clean ball float, clean machine exterior, check cord, rinse squeegee, check hoses for damage/clogs.

Lubrication and Bolt Checks

Lubricate wheels/casters monthly with water-resistant lubricant. Check for loose/missing nuts/bolts and replace as needed.

Blue Screen Cleaning

Clean the BLUE screen after each use to prevent build-up and maintain air flow. This reduces air flow if clogged.

Storage

Proper Storage Procedures

Unplug machine. Store upright in a dry area. Store with squeegee off the ground. Store vacuum head off unit to allow tank to 'breathe'.
