Overview

This document provides the instruction manual for Vissani Stainless Steel Built-In Wine/Beverage Coolers, specifically models MCWC50DST and MCBC58DST. It covers essential information for proper use, installation, operation, and maintenance of these appliances.

Function Description

The Vissani Wine/Beverage Coolers are designed to store wine bottles or beverages at optimal temperatures. The MCWC50DST model is a 50-bottle wine cooler, while the MCBC58DST model is a 5.8 cu.ft. beverage cooler. Both models are designed for either built-in or free-standing installation. They feature an electronic thermostat for precise temperature control and an internal light for visibility. The appliances utilize an automatic defrost function, eliminating the need for manual defrosting. The door is reversible, allowing for flexible installation and opening direction.

Usage Features

  • Temperature Control:
    • MCWC50DST (Wine Cooler): The temperature range is 39°F ~ 64°F (4°C ~ 18°C) +/- 5°F. It offers preset wine zones for red wine (54°F ~ 61°F / 12°C ~ 16°C) and white wine (43°F ~ 50°F / 6°C ~ 10°C). Users can manually set the temperature between 39°F and 64°F in one-degree increments using the up and down pads after pressing the [SET] button. The display shows the average temperature, and users can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
    • MCBC58DST (Beverage Cooler): The temperature range is 35°F ~ 54°F (2°C ~ 12°C) +/- 5°F. It has a "NORMAL" temperature setting of 45°F (7°C). Manual temperature setting is possible between 35°F and 54°F in one-degree increments, similar to the wine cooler, by pressing the [SET] button and using the up and down pads. The "MANUAL" indicator light illuminates during manual setting.
  • Interior Lighting: Both models feature an interior light that can be switched ON/OFF using a dedicated pad. The light indicator remains ON during the refrigeration cycle and turns OFF during the idle cycle.
  • Storage Shelves:
    • MCWC50DST (Wine Cooler): Equipped with five full-depth wine shelves in the upper part of the cabinet and a two-story bottom rack. The top five shelves are designed to hold 8 bottles each, with necks alternating front to back. The bottom rack holds 6 bottles with necks facing the front. Shelves have tabs to engage the cabinet and can be removed to accommodate larger bottles.
    • MCBC58DST (Beverage Cooler): Features three glass shelves for beverage cans or bottles. These shelves also have tabs to engage the cabinet and can be arranged on any supporting guide or removed to accommodate larger items.
  • Door Reversibility: The appliance door is reversible, allowing it to open from either the left or right side. Instructions are provided for changing the door swing, which is recommended to be done prior to appliance installation.
  • Installation Flexibility: Designed for both built-in and free-standing installations. Specific cutout dimensions are provided for built-in installation to ensure proper door swing and access to shelves.
  • Safety Features: Includes important safety instructions regarding child entrapment, refrigerants, and flammable fluids. It emphasizes proper grounding and warns against using extension cords or inverters.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Interior: Recommended to clean the interior with a damp warm cloth soaked in a lukewarm water and baking soda solution (approximately 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water).
    • Exterior: The outside surface should be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water, then dried with a soft cloth.
    • Door Gasket: The door gasket (seal) should be kept clean to maintain efficient operation.
    • Vent: Dust or blockages in the vent can hinder cooling efficiency; vacuuming the vent is recommended if necessary.
  • Automatic Defrost: The appliance features an automatic defrost system. Ice build-up on the inner back wall during compressor operation is automatically defrosted when the compressor cycle is off. The defrost water drains through an outlet into a drain pan above the compressor, where it evaporates.
  • Inner Light Replacement: Instructions are provided for changing the inner LED light, which involves removing screws and disconnecting the LED connector. This procedure should only be performed by an authorized technician.
  • Vacation Care:
    • Short Vacations (less than three weeks): The appliance can remain operating.
    • Long Vacations (several months): It is recommended to remove all contents, unplug the power cord, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and leave the door slightly ajar to prevent odor and mold growth.
  • Moving the Appliance: Before moving, turn off and unplug the unit, remove all contents, and securely tape down loose items and the doors.
  • Energy Saving Tips: Suggestions include locating the appliance in the coolest area of the room, away from heat sources and direct sunlight, and ensuring the door is properly closed when the unit is on.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting guide to help users resolve common issues before contacting customer service. A warranty section details coverage for parts and labor, including a 5-year compressor warranty (parts only), and outlines conditions that are not covered.
