Electronic Marker Systems (EMS) - Theory
The coil and capacitor are chosen
so that they have a particular
resonant frequency.
When the circuit is hit with a pulse
of electromagnetic energy the circuit
resonates causing currents to flow
in the circuit.
Currents flowing in the EMS
marker create a return signal.
An EMS marker consists
of a coil of wire which is
connected in parallel
with a resonating
capacitor.
