Neverusethesecuringstrapsif:
—Damagetothewarpandweftofthewebbing(cutsorfraying)accountsformorethan10%ofthewebbing.
—Theseamsaredamaged.
—Thewebbingisdeformedbyfrictionorheat.
—Thesecuringstrapsarecracked,especiallyifcrackedacrossthestrap,orifthestrapshavenotches.
—Thesecuringstrapshavesplitsorcorrosiondamage.
—Thereisdamagetothetighteningdeviceandconnectionelements.
WARNING
Objectsthatarenotsecuredorareattachedincorrectlycancauseseriousinjuriesintheeventofasuddendrivingor
brakingmanoeuvreorinanaccident.Thisappliesparticularlyifobjectsarestruckbytheairbagwhenactivatedand
thenflungthroughthevehicleinterior.Toreducetheriskofaccidents,observethefollowingguidelines:
● Alwaysstowallitemssecurelyinthevehicle.
● Stowitemsinthevehicleinteriorinsuchawaythattheycanneverentertheairbagdeploymentzoneswhilethe

● Alwayskeepstowagecompartmentsclosedwhilethevehicleisinmotion.
● Stowedobjectsmustnevercausepassengerstoassumeanincorrectsittingposition.
● Anyseatblockedbystowedobjectsmustnotbeusedbyanypassengers.
● Donotstowanyhard,heavyorsharpobjectslooseinanyofthevehicle’sopenstowageareas,onthesurfaceof
therearseatbackrestwhenitisfoldeddown,theloadcompartmentcoverorthedashpanel.
● Alwaysstowheavyobjectsdirectlyontheloadcompartmentfloor.
● Removeanyhard,heavyorsharpobjectsfromitemsofclothingandbagsinsidethevehicleandstowthem
securely.
WARNING
Transportingheavyobjectschangesthevehicle’shandlingduetothechangeinthecentreofgravityandincreases
thebrakingdistance.Heavyloadsthatarenotproperlystowedorsecuredinthevehiclecanleadtoalossofvehicle
controlandseriousinjuriescanbecaused.
● Neveroverloadthevehicle.Boththepayloadandthedistributionoftheloadinthevehiclewillhaveaneffecton
thedrivingresponseandbrakingdistanceofthevehicle.
● Transportingheavyobjectschangesthevehicle’shandlingandthecentreofgravity.
● Alwaysdistributetheloadevenlyandaslowdownaspossibleinthevehicle.
● Alwaysstowheavyitemssecurelyintheloadcompartmentasfaraspossibleinfrontoftherearaxle.
● Looseobjectsintheloadcompartmentcansuddenlyslideandchangethewaythevehiclehandles.
● Alwaysadaptyourspeedanddrivingstyletothecurrentvisibility,weatherandroadortrafficconditions.
● Accelerateparticularlycarefullyandgently.
● Avoidsuddenbrakinganddrivingmanoeuvres.
● Brakeearlierthanusual.
