CAUTION: If this adjustment places the Leg Cuffs in an
uncomfortable position, the Heel Cup may need to be moved.
NOTE: Do NOT mold the aluminum Leg Cuff to fit your leg, as
this may cause it to crack or break.
3. Adjust the Springs – for most users, the Springs’ factory
setting is adequate to maintain stability. If needed, adjust
the Springs by turning the Spring Adjuster Disk (clockwise
to tighten).
a. Forward Stability: Tighten the Upper Spring (brown) to
shift your weight back.
b. Backward Stability: Tighten the Lower Spring (silver) to
shift your weight forward.
Turn the Adjuster Disk a small amount (1/2 turn) and test
walking, repeating until comfortable.
CAUTION: Never lower the Adjuster Disk more than ¼ length
of the bolt. Over-tightening the Springs may limit walking action
and damage the stilts.
Confirming Sideways Adjustment
When properly balanced the Leg Cuffs should apply moderate
support to the calf. If the Leg Cuff forces the leg inward or
pulls the knee outward, modify the Upper Side Pole Bracket
sideways adjustment:
1. While sitting or balancing on the stilt
with the help of a skilled stilt user,
loosen the Sideways Adjusting Bolt on
the Upper Side Pole Bracket.
2. Move the Side Pole inward until the
Leg Cuff feels snug against your leg.
Securely tighten the bolt.
3. Test the change by walking with the
skilled stilt user. If you still feel knee
pressure, continue to move the
Leg Cuff until you feel balanced
without pressure on your knee joints.
WARNING: It is important to adjust the stilts to feel comfortable.
Improper adjustment may cause fatigue and injury. If you feel
any pain or discomfort, re-adjust the fit.
Height Adjustment
1. Always remove stilts before adjusting the height.
2. Remove Height Adjustment Wing Bolts and pull Upper Legs
to required length.
3. Align the Wing Bolt holes, install the Wing Bolts and fasten
securely. Make sure lock washers are on before tightening
Wing Bolts.
4. Verify that front and back legs – and both stilts – are adjusted
to same height.
WARNING: Check to make sure Wing Bolts are tight before
each use.
Daily Cleaning and Inspection
WARNING: Inspect stilts daily and replace any worn or
damaged components immediately before use. Check for
excess wear and verify that all fasteners are tight.
1. Clean Foot Plates and Floor Plates before each use. Replace
your Floor Pads regularly to maintain maximum traction.
2. Clean and lubricate moving parts daily with a dry lubricant
like Silicone Spray. Be careful not to get lubricant on your
Floor Pads.
3. Check Nylon Sleeves to make sure the legs slide properly
with even pressure. To replace Sleeves carefully follow
instructions included with the Nylon Bushing Kit.
Parts needing inspection and routine replacement include:
Straps, Springs, Plates, Floor Pads, Legs, Leg Connections,
Leg Support Cuffs, Brackets, Clamps, Screws, Bolts, Nuts,
Rivets and Nylon Sleeves.
Storage
Store stilts in a dry location where they will not be bent or
damaged. Use straps to secure stilts together for easy transport.
