CONSTRUCTION OF THE LATERAL
RETAINING WALLS
After the concrete slab has hardened, the side
retaining walls are built (see table on the right for
dimensions). These walls are built using either
hollow blocks to be lled with concrete or, for
example, prefabricated blocks or concrete blocks
with a thickness of 24 cm. It is important that the
bricks are reinforced with 8 mm iron bars (see
drawing), and are are completely cast with concrete.
Build the walls with staggered blocks.
Observe the drying time for the used concrete; this
can be up to 21 days depending on type and quality.
You can only begin with the further installation of
the swimming pool after he concrete has completely
hardened. It must always be observed that the side
retaining walls must be completely recessed in the
compacted soil; they must never be freestanding.
The rounded parts at the ends of your oval pool
must later be lled with a lean concrete backll
over the full depth (in lling steps of 20 to 30 cm,
depending on the condition of the soil).
