STARTING INSTRUCTIONS
• To Stop tide Engine:
• To stop engine, move the switch to the “OFF"
position. Figure 10.
t Before Starting the Engine!
• Fuel the engine. Move at least 10 feet (3 me¬
ters) away from the fueling site.
• Hold the unit in the starting position as 6hown
in Figure 11. Make sure the blower end is di¬
rected away from people, animals, glass, and
_ solid objects. _
A WARNING
When starting engine, hold the unit as shown in
Figure 11. Do not set unit on any surface except a
clean, hard area when starting engine or while
engine is running. Debris such as gravel, sand,
dust, grass, etc. could be picked up by the air in¬
take and thrown out through the discharge open¬
ing, damaging the unit or property or cansing se-
rious injury to bystanders or the operator.
• For a Cold Engine or a Warm Engine After
Running Out of Fuel.
• Move switch to the “ON” position. Figure 10.
• Move choke to “FULL" position, Figure 10.
• Grasp handle and squeeze throttle trigger
frilly. Hold throttle trigger until engine is
warm.

The engine “attempts to run” may be
hard to hear. The operator must liken
carefully. After 8 pulls, proceed to the follow¬
ing step even if the engine has not attempted to
run.
• Move choke to “HALF” position. Figure 10.
• Pull starter rope sharply until engine runs,
but no more than 5 pulls.
NOTE: I f engine has not stated after 5 pulls, re¬
peat all of the above steps.
• Allow engine to run for 10 to 15 seconds, then
move choke to “OFF” position. Figure 10,
• Release the throttle trigger.
NOTE: If e ngi ne dies with choke at “OFF” posi¬
tion, move the choke to the “Half” position and
pull the starter rope 5 more times. It engine does
not start and operate properly, refer to “Carbure¬
tor Adjustments.”
• To stop engine, move the switch to the “OFF”
position. Figure 10.

• For a Warm Engine:
• Move switch to the “ON” position. Figure 10.
• Move choke to “HALF” position. Figure 10.
• Grasp handle; squeeze throttle trigger fully
and hold until engine starts.
• Pull starter rope sharply until engine runs,
but no more than 5 pulls.
• Move choke to “OFF” position. Figure 10.
Then, release the throttle trigger.
NOTE: If engine does not run after 5 pulls, it is
probably flooded. Wait a few minutes and repeat
procedure with choke at “OFF” position.
• To stop engine, move the switch to the “OFF”
position. Figure 10.
