Overview

The Wet Sounds WW-BT-VC V2 is a Bluetooth volume control device designed for easy integration into audio systems, providing a single-knob interface for managing both Bluetooth functions and system volume. This compact controller simplifies the user experience by centralizing audio control.

Function Description

The primary function of the WW-BT-VC V2 is to provide a convenient and intuitive way to control Bluetooth-enabled audio playback and system volume. It acts as an intermediary between a Bluetooth source device (like a smartphone) and an audio amplifier or equalizer. The device receives audio signals wirelessly via Bluetooth and allows the user to adjust the volume and control playback directly from its single knob.

Usage Features

Powering On/Off:

The WW-BT-VC V2 can be powered on automatically when connected to a switched 12V power source, such as an ignition or dash switch. Alternatively, it can be manually powered on or off by pressing and holding the control knob. This manual control is particularly useful in installations where a dedicated vehicle switch is not utilized for the device.

Bluetooth Pairing:

To initiate Bluetooth pairing, the device must first be powered on. A red LED indicator will illuminate, signifying that the unit is ready. The user then presses and holds the control knob until a blue LED begins to flash, indicating that the WW-BT-VC V2 is in pairing mode. From a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or portable device, the user can then search for and connect to the WW-BT-VC V2 in their device's Bluetooth settings. To unpair, the user simply double-taps the controller knob.

Music Playback Control:

The single control knob offers a comprehensive set of playback controls:

  • Play Music: To start media playback from a connected Bluetooth device, the user simply initiates playback on their media player or music streaming service.
  • Pause Music: Tapping the knob once will pause the current track. Tapping it a second time will resume playback.
  • Skip One Track Forward: Turning the knob clockwise for approximately one second will advance to the next track.
  • Skip One Track Backward: Turning the knob counter-clockwise for approximately one second will return to the previous track.
  • Adjust Volume Up: To increase the volume, the user turns and holds the knob clockwise until the desired volume level is reached.
  • Adjust Volume Down: To decrease the volume, the user turns and holds the knob counter-clockwise until the desired volume level is reached.

Mounting Options:

The WW-BT-VC V2 offers versatile mounting options to suit different installation preferences:

  • Surface Mount / Under Dash Mount: For these applications, the controller can be mounted using two Phillips screws and the supplied surface/under dash mounting adapter.
  • Flush Mount / In-dash Mount: This option provides a clean, integrated look. It involves removing the surface mount portion of the controller by unscrewing the main nut. A 7/8" hole is drilled in the desired mounting location (after checking for clearances behind the dash). The controller is then installed from the front and secured with the main body nut from behind, ensuring the Bluetooth knob is correctly oriented before tightening.

Wiring Methods:

The device supports two main wiring configurations:

  • Standard Wiring Method (Switched Power Source):
    • Red Wire (12V+): Connects to a 12V positive power switch (ignition or dash switch) to power the unit on/off with the vehicle.
    • Yellow Wire (12V+): Connects to a 12V positive continuous power source (fused) for constant power.
    • Blue Wire (12V+): Connects to the amplifier or EQ turn-on input, signaling these components to power on when the WW-BT-VC V2 is active.
    • Black Wire (Ground): Connects to the battery negative terminal or a ground terminal block.
  • Alternative Wiring Method (Non-Switched Power Source):
    • Red Wire: This wire is unused, properly isolated, and capped off. The unit is powered on/off manually by pressing and holding the knob.
    • Yellow Wire (12V+): Connects to a 12V positive continuous power source.
    • Blue Wire (12V+): Connects to the amplifier or EQ turn-on input.
    • Black Wire (Ground): Connects to the battery negative terminal or a ground terminal block.

Maintenance Features

The WW-BT-VC V2 is designed for durability and minimal maintenance. As an electronic device, it requires proper installation to ensure longevity.

FCC Compliance:

The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules, meaning it has been tested and found to meet limits for a Class B digital device. This ensures reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. Users are advised that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the responsible party could void their authority to operate the equipment. In case of interference with radio or television reception, users are encouraged to:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

The device is evaluated to meet general RF exposure requirements and can be used in portable exposure conditions without restriction, indicating its safety for user interaction.

General Care:

While specific cleaning instructions are not provided, general care for electronic devices applies. Keeping the unit free from excessive moisture, dust, and extreme temperatures will help maintain its performance. The robust design, including its single control knob, suggests a durable interface intended for regular use in various environments.
