Assemble the metal detector coil and rod by attaching them with plastic bolts.
Insert 9V batteries, connect them, and close the compartment securely.
Extend or shorten the tube by releasing and securing the handle latch.
Power on the unit by rotating the left knob until it clicks.
Increase sensitivity by rotating the left knob clockwise; reduce for false signals.
Test battery by rotating the right knob counter-clockwise; check target indicator.
Eliminate unwanted metals by rotating the right knob clockwise, referring to the scale.
Sweep the coil in an 'X' pattern over the target to locate its center for digging.
