5.1 Sawing Problems
PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
Blades Dull Quickly Dirty logs Clean or debark logs, espe-
cially on entry side of the cut
When grinding teeth, heating
too much and causing teeth to
soften
Grind just enough metal to
restore sharpness to the
teeth. Use water/coolant while
sharpening blade
Poor sharpening techniques Make sure the tip is being
sharpened completely (See
Sharpener Manual)
Blades Break Prematurely Rubber belts on blade wheels
worn to a point that blade con-
tacts metal pulley - look for
shiny spots on edge of wheels
Change blade wheel belts
