Overview

This document provides original instructions for a WORX Battery Pack, focusing on safety warnings, operation, transport, and maintenance.

Function Description

The WORX Battery Pack is designed to power WORX cordless products. It is a rechargeable Li-Ion battery that provides portable power for various tools. The battery pack is an integral component of the cordless tool system, enabling operation without direct connection to a power outlet.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Battery Type: Li-Ion
  • Operating Temperature: Normal room temperature (20°C ± 5°C) for optimal performance.
  • Storage Temperature: Between 0°C and 45°C.
  • Charging: Requires a charger specifically specified by WORX.

Usage Features

  • Compatibility: Exclusively for use with WORX cordless products. Users should refer to the marking label and instruction manual provided with the specific product for compatibility.
  • Initial Charge: The battery pack is UNCHARGED upon purchase and must be fully charged in a WORX battery charger before its first use to ensure full capacity.
  • Charging Procedure: Always refer to the specific charging instructions provided with the charger and product.
  • Charge Retention: A battery pack will slowly lose its charge when stored outside the charger or in an unplugged charger for extended periods. Recharging may be necessary before use.
  • Deep Discharge Protection: The Li-Ion battery is protected against deep discharging. If the battery is empty, the machine will automatically switch off via a protective circuit, preventing further operation and potential damage.
  • Overheating Protection: In warm environments or after heavy use, the battery pack may become too hot to charge. It is crucial to allow the battery to cool down before attempting to recharge it.
  • Flexible Charging: The Li-Ion battery can be charged at any time without negatively impacting its service life. Interrupting the charging procedure does not harm the battery.
  • Performance Optimization: After extended storage, it may be necessary to charge and discharge the battery pack several times to achieve maximum performance.
  • Disposal: Dispose of properly. Li-Ion batteries should not be disposed of with general waste. Return exhausted batteries to a local collection or recycling point. Do not burn batteries.
  • Removal from Equipment: Remove the battery from the equipment when not in use.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Keep the battery pack clean and dry. Wipe the battery pack terminals with a clean, dry cloth if they become dirty. Occasionally clean the venting slots of the battery using a soft, clean, and dry brush.
  • Storage: Store the battery pack within the specified temperature range (0°C to 45°C). Avoid storage in direct sunlight or extreme conditions, such as leaving it in a car during summer.
  • Replacement: A significantly reduced working period after charging indicates that the battery is worn out and must be replaced.
  • Service: If the battery is no longer operative, users should refer to an authorized after-sales service agent for WORX power tools.
  • Transport: When transporting, ensure the battery housing is undamaged. Pack batteries in a way that prevents them from moving around in the packaging. The contained Li-Ion batteries are subject to dangerous goods legislation requirements.

Safety Warnings

  • General Safety: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to comply may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
  • Dismantling: Do not dismantle, open, or shred cells or the battery pack.
  • Short-Circuiting: Do not short-circuit a battery pack. Avoid storing battery packs haphazardly in a box or drawer where they could short-circuit each other or be short-circuited by conductive materials (e.g., paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws). Shorting battery terminals can cause burns or fire.
  • Heat and Fire: Do not expose the battery pack to heat or fire. Avoid storage in direct sunlight.
  • Mechanical Shock: Do not subject the battery pack to mechanical shock.
  • Leakage: In case of battery leakage, do not allow the liquid to come into contact with skin or eyes. If contact occurs, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
  • Ingestion: Seek medical advice immediately if a cell or battery pack has been swallowed.
  • Charging: Recharge only with the charger specified by WORX. Using an unsuitable charger can create a risk of fire.
  • Unauthorized Use: Do not use any battery pack not designed for use with the specific equipment.
  • Children: Keep the battery pack out of the reach of children.
  • Documentation: Retain the original product literature for future reference.
  • Over-Discharge: Do not continue to press the On/Off Switch after the machine has automatically switched off, as this could lead to over-discharging the battery.
  • Environmental Exposure: Do not expose the battery to rain or water.
