Usage Features
The trimmer offers several features designed for ease of use and versatility:
Assembly and Setup
- Safety Guard Assembly: The safety guard needs to be assembled before use (Fig. A1, A2).
- Edger/Trimming Support Wheels: These wheels can be attached in three optional positions to assist with trimming and edging. Fig. B1 shows the setup for edging, while Fig. B2 and B3 illustrate configurations for trimming. The machine can also be used without guide wheels on the guard when trimming.
- Battery Installation: The 20V battery pack must be fully charged before its first use. It is installed and removed as shown in Fig. C.
- Battery Condition Check: The battery condition can be checked (Fig. D1).
- Shaft Adjustment: The telescopic shaft can be adjusted for user comfort and task requirements (Fig. F).
- Auxiliary Handle Adjustment: The auxiliary handle can be adjusted to an optimal position (Fig. G).
Operation Modes
- Trimming/Mowing:
- Adjusting the Trimmer Head: The trimmer head can be adjusted and must be locked (Fig. I4).
- For trimming/mowing, the support wheels can be mounted (Fig. J1, J2, B2, B3).
- The flower guard can be used (Fig. H).
- Edging:
- Main Handle Rotation: To switch to edging mode, secure the lower housing and guard, pull up on the telescopic shaft, and turn clockwise 90 degrees. Release the shaft to lock into edging mode (Fig. K1, K2).
- The tool can be used for edging (Fig. K6).
- Changing the tool into edging mode involves specific adjustments (Fig. K3, K4, K5).
Line Feeding System
The trimmer incorporates advanced line feeding mechanisms:
- Automatic Line Feed System: When the trimmer is initially switched on, a small length of line (approx. 0.25 inches) is fed out. Each time the tool is restarted from rest, additional line is advanced. A 'clattering' noise indicates the lines hitting the Line Cutter, which is normal. If the noise isn't heard, more line needs to be fed by stopping and restarting the tool until full speed is reached and the line hits the cutter.
- COMMAND FEED™ (See Fig. L): This system allows for on-demand line feeding. While the machine is running, pressing the command feed button will momentarily shut off the motor and then restart it upon release, automatically feeding additional line. This continues until the 'clattering' noise of the line cutting is heard.
- Manually Feeding the Line (See Fig. M): If needed, the line can be manually fed by turning off the trimmer, removing the battery, and pressing/releasing the manual Line Feed Button while gently pulling out the line. If too much line is fed out, the Spool Cap can be removed, and the Spool turned counter-clockwise to adjust the length.
- Manually Winding the Line (See Fig. O1, O2, O3, O4): Approximately 10ft (3m) of line should be inserted 5/8 inch (15mm) into the Spool holes and wound in the direction of the arrows on the Spool top. About 4 inches (100mm) of line should be left unwound and placed into the cleat. Proper coiling ensures efficient automatic line feed.
Safety Features
- Lock Off Button (13): Prevents unintentional starting.
- Safety Guard (8): Protects the user from debris and the cutting line.
