Preferential Memory Scan
During Preferential Memory Scan, scanning will pause on any signal encountered that is
strong enough to open the squelch; scanning will then resume according to the Scan-Resume
mode that was selected. See Set the Scan-Resume Preference on page 46 for details.
To place a Memory channel on the Preferential Scan List:
1. Set the radio to the Memory mode by pressing the key, if necessary.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the channel which you wish to add to the Preferential
Scan List.
3. Set the band for the selected Memory Channel to the Main band by pressing the DIAL
knob.
4. Press the SET key momentarily to enter the Set mode.
5. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Menu #37 SKP.MSM.
6. Press the DIAL knob momentarily, then rotate the DIAL knob to MSM.
7. Press and hold in the DIAL knob for ½ second to save the new setting and exit to
normal operation. 0.
To configure the FT−8800R for Preferential Memory Scan:
This setting is stored separately for each side of each Hyper Memory
channel (see page 43).
1. Press the SET key momentarily to enter the Set mode.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Menu #35 SCAN M.
3. Press the DIAL knob momentarily, then rotate the DIAL knob to MSM.
4. Press and hold in the DIAL knob for ½ second to save the new setting and exit to
normal operation. 0.
Now only the channels which have the icon displayed will be scanned.
